Food is Art in Silver Spring, Maryland (Mar. 23, 2014)
One of the Silver Spring, Maryland “cooks”, Donald, put it this way: “A grand evening. A sumptuous feast in the middle of some amazing art and artists.”
Not only was our dinner set up as a buffet right in the studio of co-host artist Dave Daniels, but artists Fred Wessel, Judy Bates and Lee-Ann Chellis Wessel used their hands to work and mold, not egg tempera (Fred), watercolors (Dave and Judy), miniatures (Lee-Ann), but the stuffing of our Sicilian baked tomatoes, the chopping of apples for our winter salad, the mixing of the goodness of our amaretti-stuffed baked apples.
A kaleidoscope of colors joined with enticing flavors in this Maryland feast served in an artist’s studio and enjoyed by artists and friends. Well, after all, food IS art.
Mille grazie, Curt and Dave, for hosting us and thanks to all who joined in the cooking – and the feasting!
