Sharing Umbria with Our Assisi Apartment Guests
Vicky, Mary, Dorothy and Christina, such pleasure to have you in our Assisi countryside apartment, sharing Umbria with you all.
Mille grazie for your note, Vicky, letting us know that this pleasure was mutual: –
“Dear Anne and Pino,
It has been our great pleasure to share your magnificent home and family….
We have enjoyed every minute and touring with you has been amazing.
We love you all. Your lovely city of Assisi is now deep in our hearts. We hope to come back soon.”
And Dorothy, what fun to celebrate together your eighty-third birthday with dinner in our farmhouse:
Glad you all enjoyed the antipasti: tomatoes from our garden for one antipasto, ripe figs from our trees (the last ones!) for that bruschetta – and then an Umbrian vegetable medley called “la bandiera” (“the flag”):
And Pino created that tasty primo piatto (first course) – a pasta dish with wild mushrooms from the Umbria woods:
Thanks, Mary, for your comment on Dorothy’s birthday dinner: “We loved sharing Dorothy’s birthday with you – made it so special. What a lovely dinner and great company…..”
I’m so glad, too, that you were here for the Feast of St. Francis on October 4th, so fully participating in the local passione:
Such a delight for me to tour the hill towns, too, with you all. Thinking about our Bevagna visit together (and meeting the mayor who opened doors for us to closed monuments) still brings a smile:
Thanks to the mayor, we were able to tour the 19-th century frescoed theater….
….and view the 2nd-c A.D. mosaics of the Roman baths:
On to Spello afterwards for a “guided” wine-tastings banquet – with black truffle highlights:
Good days, good times together but in a wink, your car was loaded and you were all standing in front of our house for a last photo memento: it was time for arrivederci.
Pleases always remember that the word means “until we see each other again.” Let’s make it happen.
Here in Assisi.
