As I look forward to my 2012 February/March coast-to-coast U.S tour, memories of my memorable 2011 tour flood in.
No single event takes the stage. Each one was unique, each one was highlighted by an unforgettable moment (and laughter!) – and each one connected me with such a wide array of amazing people. Often the cooking classes were also reunions with tour guests who had shared the wonders of Umbria with me here.
Cooking classes re-connected me with University of Santa Clara and UC-Berkeley friends, aunts and cousins, Rome junior-year-abroad classmates and high school friends. At one Chicago area class, a friend I hadn’t seen since seventh-grade was my “sous-chef”!
And in many classes, new friendships formed as we all diced and sliced, grated and mixed. From Los Angeles to Seattle to Portland and on to San Francisco – where our son Mattia joined in a class! I then headed on to Arizona to cook a couple days in a Phoenix cooking school (as well as in private homes) and then on to Texas before “coming in from the cold” in Chicago. More cold weather on the East Coast but warm warm welcomes at Massachusetts and Connecticut classes, as well as at my lecture at M.I.T. Washington, D.C. area classes topped off a wondrous tour.
Wondering now what 2012 will bring…?! Tour start will be in California and Denver events are confirmed. Requests are in from Seattle, Phoenix, Chicago and Boston is confirmed, as is Washington D.C., Florida queries are in.
Andiamo!
