Over two months of blistering heat here in Italy (summer, 2026) inspired all to seek the cool whenever possible.
That mountainside area, Costa di Trex – just about 6 km from Assisi – drew many for dinners in the evening cool during the feasting days August 5th to 14th:
Tables filled up as friends joined to taste that Umbrian rural goodness:, enjoying local wines while awaiting their orders:
Pino too enjoyed our wine as we awaited…
….and Peppa was across the table from us, her food arriving after Pino’s lentil soup and my pasta with Sagrantino wine sauce:
All the cooking was done by volunteers in a kitchen just outside the food tent.
The food orders were then passed out a window to the servers in the food tent:
Young volunteers served the tasty rural dishes:
What an intergenerational unifying culinary event, uniting young servers, cooks of all ages, and feasting guests (from young ones to their grandparents).
