Mattia dropped me off the other night in Danville for my first Bay Area class: a “girls only” group hosted by Yvonne (who had toured with me in Assisi in October) and Christine whose kitchen soon filled with laughter and clattering pots, pans, spoons and knives as we prepared an Umbrian rural feast.
The women teamed into pairs as colorful peperonata sizzled on one burner while the squash/sage pasta simmered on another. Some topped toasted baguette slices with finely-diced tomato and arugula, drizzling olive oil on top. Everyone munched these bruschetta slices and sipped wine while other dishes came together. Mushroom/parsley/garlic bruschetta was passed around next. These nibbles were just the beginning!
