John, of Calabrian descent but born in the U.S., sang in Neapolitan dialect as he worked on the leek frittata. Son Mattia (now living in California) came to pick me up at the end of the class and enjoyed hearing John tell stories in “calabrese“, so close to the “palermitano” which his father and Sicilian relatives speak.
Once again, the preparing and sharing of food solidified old ties and formed new ones. Grazie, Belmont gruppo, for a memorable “culinary reunion.”
Here’s a comment on our class:
“A great job again. You are very inspirational to all of us. We all like to cook and you make it look so easy!” Rebecca
