How good to be back with Nancy and Brant again! We first met in Umbria five years ago when they toured the medieval hilltowns with me and they just hosted their third cooking class here in Corona del Mar. Great group – as always. Favorite dishes cooked: pasta with walnuts, anchovies and cherry tomatoes, winter squash with fennel, capers, sweet and sour sauce and prosciutto-wrapped pears with gorgonzola cheese and walnut topping.
I brought desserts from Italy, including the Carnevale (Mardi Gras) Umbrian sweet, strufoli – made by our farm friend, Peppa! To explain to Peppa where her strufoli would be enjoyed, I told her “Los Angeles is a big city – like the one you see every day on your favorite soap opera, Beautiful!” “Ahhhh…”, she said and beamed.
Corona-del-Mar hosts Brant and Nancy wrote, “Each time gets better: the food, the friends, the culture are the best!”
…and cooking participant Edie says, “After Anne’s class, I can’t wait to eat my way through Italy!”
Ciao Anne… next time, bring Peppa with you! Can you imagine!!!
We had a fabulous time cooking with you, Annie! (I think you should be registered as one of UNESCO’s Italian treasures.) And we can’t wait to visit you in Umbria this summer!
When are you coming to cook with me in Umbria?
