– a gift from their father was forced to set aside his own youthful passione per la fotografia due the family’s meagre income.
Giovanni soon lost interest in the darkroom and photography: brother Andrea, young assistant, spent hours there, leaving behind the youthful caprices of friends for the emotion of seeing images coming out on photographic printing paper.
As he says, “Ero felice perchè finalmente per la prima volta nella mia vita stavo ‘creando’ qualcosa” (“I was happy because I was finally creating something for the first time in my life).”
