Dave with his art – in his studio
One of the Silver Spring, Maryland “cooks”, Donald, put it this way: “A grand evening. A sumptuous feast in the middle of some amazing art and artists.”
Not only was our dinner set up as a buffet right in the studio of co-host artist Dave Daniels, but artists Fred Wessel, Judy Bates and Lee-Ann Chellis Wessel used their hands to work and mold,not egg tempera (Fred), watercolors (Dave and Judy), miniatures (Lee-Ann), but the stuffing of our Sicilian baked tomatoes, the chopping of apples for our winter salad, the mixing of the goodness of our amaretti-stuffed baked apples.
A kaleidoscope of colors joined with enticing flavors in this Maryland feast served in an artist’s studio and enjoyed by artists and friends. Well, after all, food IS art.

What a wonderful privilege it was to have you in our home again, cooking and entertaining close friends. It was a wonderful evening of good friends, and great food. We look forward to seeing you in Assisi before too long.

Anne, what a warm, delicious and wonderful evening with you in Maryland. We almost felt transported to Italy without having to endure that long flight! We came from Virginia and Massachusetts to enjoy our delightful evening with you and other good friends. Thank you so much for the wonderful hand gesture lesson, always fun to watch, as well as the wonderful recipes and cooking tips. I’m looking forward to seeing you again in a few weeks back in Assisi!!
