The curtain’s up on our Assisi countryside apartment, Casa dell’Arco: literally….. but not only.
Creating the interiors of our Assisi countryside apartments – so tastefully designed and built by my husband Pino – has been a joyous adventure right from the start.
Even one of the curtains was the result of an adventure: a fortuitous find at the monthly Arezzo antique fair. Pino and I spotted a piece of material in a mound of fabrics
– and our neighbor Rita later turned it into a lovely curtain, adding an artisanal touch to an apartment bedroom:
The other bedroom, too, has a “Rita curtain” this one incorporating a textile of the Assisi embroidery, punto Assisi, that I’d found at an Assisi outdoor market:
In both the apartment bedrooms, the bed headboards (made by Pino) are artisan works, too, of arte povera: shuttered doors of an old farmhouse.
Original art hangs above the headboard and throughout the apartments:
……and the artisan theme continues throughout the Casa dell’Arco apartment in the hand-painted tiles backing the stove, maiolica dishes and olive wood utensils stocking the kitchen, the textiles:
….and the wooden furniture – many pieces antique – add to the rustic tone of our countryside apartments:
….and of course, all guests are greeted with a welcoming table (goodness from our garden, eggs from our chickens there, too):
Come soon for a stay with family or friends, La porta e’ sempre aperta. Right under Pino’s arch, the door is open in the Casa dell’Arco.
