Gina and Mike, Byron and Melinda, mille grazie for having brought such a lovely group along with you for a stay in our countryside apartments.
A joy to share Assisi wonders with you all…
….wrapping up the Assisi tour with our memorable Spello wine-tastings/olive-oil tastings/ truffles banquet:
The next day, we tasted other wines: those of our farm friends. Peppe led us into his wine cellar and filled a bottle from one of his casks (but not a glass bottle with a famous label this time!)
..and his homemade salami dangled above the wine casks:
Outside, Peppe had plastic cups ready for a taste of his vino rosso……
……and to raise up together for a “salute” to all:
Peppe radiated pride in his vino – and in his prosciutti, too….logicamente:
….as did Marino, another of our rural friends:
And Marino’s salami was part of the antipasto at our dinner cooked up by his wife Chiarina and their lovely daughter, Rossanna:
After that buonissimo first course (primo), Rossanna proudly served up the wild boar her papa’ Marino had hunted with this squad.
….and then the chicken he had raised, delectably roasted by mamma Chiarina:
At the end of our feast, Marino’s grappa – and Rossanna’s tasty cake – were our send-off:
There is no better mille grazie to our warm and welcoming rural neighbors than your notes to me. I will translate your heartfelt thoughts to them, knowing already how touched each will be:
