Rural friend Peppa is like a part of our family and we’ve savored countless rural feasts in her farmhouse. Every lunch or dinner is a buonissimo rural banquet, although she’ll always say “oggi ho poca roba” (“today, I have very little”) as she serves up the abundance.
She said the same thing the other day as she served up the pasta of homemade tagliatelle with meat sauce….
……”but not much meat here – just a couple of sausages”:
Those chunky salsicce would become our second course – with a fresh tomato salad.
As Pino poured that vino rosso, he jokingly asked Peppa, “only this for lunch today..?”
No sausage as a secondo for me: that pasta abundance was ample:
…although Peppa tried to tempt me (futilely):
All I desired was the salad: the ripe tomatoes from her garden joined cucumbers from our garden in a fresh salad. Sliced purple onion a finishing touch.
The perfect gran finale to a Peppa lunch.
