The Northridge, California cooking class/dinner had a magical end (literally): with guest Dave treating us to a magic trick – after the feast, after the dessert – but before the limoncello! I often enjoy asking guests to tell us all something about themselves as we savor the Umbrian rural goodness – and when it was Dave’s turn, he threw in a magic trick! This class – as is often the case – united old friends while creating new connections. Cooking together, then sharing the goodness together will do that.
And Dan and Judy did it again. They had proposed the wonderful class the night before to Burbank friends and proposed this class to their Northridge friends, Linda and John – who greeted me at the door, right near a daughter’s 3-dimensional wall hanging of a De Cecco box of penne pasta! No better introduction to an Umbrian cooking evening. And host John added a true “Italian connection” to this class: he descends from Abruzzo immigrants and the food we cooked was similar to that of his ancestors (Abruzzo borders Umbria on the southeast). Once again, all guests participated con enthusiasmo.
Both Judy-and-Dan-hosted evenings were magical events. (And not just because of magic tricks).
Mille grazie!
