For years, we’ve celebrated our late December anniversary in Orvieto at Umbria Jazz Winter. We always stay a couple days in the home of Signora Liliana (nearly ninety years old!) and take in jazz and blues performances throughout the stunning hilltown of Orvieto, perched on a volcanic rock plateau. Venues include the 13th c civic palace, a former Franciscan refectory, the frescoed theater, museums and the majestic Duomo:
Another venue? The winding medieval backstreets of Orvieto where the Florentine brass band, Funk Off, play, leap, dance and clown for the crowds following them.
See the good times of a Funk Off performance at the Umbria Jazz Perugia (July) edition.
Every time I see Funk Off, I wonder who’s having the best time: the public or the musicians?
See them in Perugia at Umbria Jazz in July each year – or in winter at Orvieto. Then decide.
