Lake Bolsena has its own Eden: the Hotel Eden, right on the shores of that lake, once a volcanic crater.
Pino and I often spend a week-end there or simply stay overnight on Saturday – as we did recently, arriving not too long before dinner.
Luckily, we were in time for that sunset splendor:
As darkness crept in, the Hotel Eden lakeside dinner tables filled up:
Our table was steps away from the lake and we shared a local white wine as we awaited our order:
Pino was soon relishing his seafood favorite, mussels – (the Bolsena lake fish, corgone, would be his choice for lunch the next day).
I opted for a pizza and I chose a tasty one: pizza alle verdure grigliate. Grilled zucchini, bell peppers and eggplant topped my pizza:
All around us, tables were filled with vacationers enjoying Hotel Eden goodness…..
….and the setting:
The lounge chairs on the hotel’s private beach were empty that evening….but all would be in use the next day…
A true sense of “being in Eden” at about 8 a.m the next morning when I headed to the tables for breakfast. No one but me: I was the first one there:
A simple cake, un buon espresso and my New Yorker to read:
Yes, I had found a touch of Eden at the Eden.
Do enjoy my talk on Lake Bolsena
