Deruta: From Farm Feasting to Maiolica Magic
This May’s 10-day “Annesitaly Inside Umbria” Celebration had to include, of course, a rural feast with Giuseppa at her farmhouse near Deruta – and then, Deruta wonders (including a “hidden treasure”). This day, too, would highlight the aim of this most special Umbria adventure: giving tour guests a completely unique “INSIDE Umbria” experience.
Giuseppa’s warm welcome was matched only by her cooking, all foods we ate grown on the land with husband Paolo, from the olive oil to wines to liqueurs to wine vinegar to all meats and vegetables…..to the flour for the pasta! Any day in Deruta should end with the unveiling of a “hidden” treasure: a fascinating maiolica folk-art shrine in the Deruta countryside, adorned with over seven-hundred maiolica folk-art panels from the 17th-c on:
…and see more here.
Ah, Deruta, where farm feasting and maiolica magic pair in an unforgettable duo.
