This May’s 10-day “Annesitaly Inside Umbria” Celebration had to include, of course, a rural feast with Giuseppa at her farmhouse near Deruta – and then, Deruta wonders (including a “hidden treasure”). This day, too, would highlight the aim of this most special Umbria adventure: giving tour guests a completely unique “INSIDE Umbria” experience.
Giuseppa’s warm welcome was matched only by her cooking, all foods we ate grown on the land with husband Paolo, from the olive oil to wines to liqueurs to wine vinegar to all meats and vegetables…..to the flour for the pasta! On their table, the only foods not from their land are the salt, sugar….and coffee.
…and after our “arrivederci, Giuseppa,” on to Deruta to learn all about the art of maiolica in a small, family-run artisanal industry:
