Well, Mike and Celinda, you’ve now made the leap: the decision to live in Italy – and over the next few weeks, you’ll be deciding WHERE to set down those Italian roots.
How good to connect with you again and talk over your options – and and over a rural feast with dear Giuseppa, farm woman friend living near Deruta.
Her buonissimo rural cooking and warm and loving welcome certainly reinforced your decision to live in Italy, vero?

[lcaption]Giuseppa serves Celinda and Mike her homemade pasta with wild boar sauce
(wild boar hunted by husband Paolo – who was out hunting today, too)[/lcaption]
……and today, Pino, too, savored that Giuseppa goodness:
After that pasta squisita, time for roasted rabbit and squab (all meats raised by Giuseppa and Paolo, logicamente!):
Celinda, know you loved Giuseppa’s zuppa inglese. To learn to make it? Come back again and cook with her!
Before leaving, a stop in the garden for fennel and salad that we could take home:
And at the garden entrance, the pepper tree from North Africa fascinated us all – and Pino wonders if he can start one from a grafting…..
No visit to Giuseppa and Paolo’s can end without a visit to see their prosciutti, family pride-and-joy:
Mike and Celinda, once you set down your Italian roots, come back to see us in Umbria – and we’ll head to Giuseppa and Paolo’s. She’ll be eager to have you again – and Paolo might be home next time. And not out hunting wild boar.
..and Mike, thanks for your note on our day:
“Tagliatelle with wild boar, grilled rabbit, grilled dove, homemade wine, fresh produce, homemade walnut liqueur, zuppa inglese for dessert: all ingredients grown or raised within 300 feet of our dining table! So when Italians talk about “farm-to-table,” they are serious…! Wonderful day with Anne, Pino, and Giuseppa in Deruta….”
