A stop in Denver nearly always includes a “cooking reunion” with Steve and Donna, their family and friends. Third time around this year. Our first meeting? During their year-long stay with family in Assisi five years ago. We shared so many Umbria “memorable moments”: the Trevi celery festival, Assisi’s wondrous medieval May festival, Calendimaggio ..and many a sagra, just to name a few.
And what better way to re-connect than through cooking up Umbrian rural cuisine – and feasting together? Glad you joined in again, too, Lynn and Charles and thanks for the note you wrote me post-feast:
“Thank you for introducing us to new recipes and experiences from Italy. As always, everything was wonderful, especially the onions and spinach. We love you.”
And happy to share that onion recipe with all.
Matt and Melissa, great job on our crostini and thanks for your note: “ Food, wine and company – equally fantastic. We were honored to be included.”
Laurie, thanks for your pre-prep on the onions and your work with Steve on the apples for our dessert. Your note appreciated: “The food was wonderful; the wine and company were also wonderful. I loved the idea of a party where we are the cooks. I loved the baked onions, the rice dish and peppers. Thank you so much!” Laurie R
…and Alison and Shannon, always wondous to link up again, reliving our cooking and feasting times together in Assisi. Thanks for your input on the cooking – and your note:
“An annual favorite every year. So good to see you.”
So good to be with all of you to cook up our feast.
