It was icy December day when Julia, from South Africa and her lovely children, Michela and Oliver headed to Deruta to see maiolica splendor – and to visit a fasinating maiolica folk art shrine, Madonna dei Bagni.
And after our explorations, no better place to warm up than at Giuseppa and Paolo’s farmhouse – with Giuseppa’s farm cooking, everything grown on their land, from the olive oil to wine and vinegar, meats, vegetables – and even the wheat for the pasta Giuseppa makes.
And not just the food warms one up, so does their welcome. And an extra surprise for us at our lunch: adored grandchildren Edoardo and Irene joined in.
Before we left, a stop to see their animals.
Arrivederci, Giuseppa and Paolo: looking forward to returning again soon.
