Ft. Washington, MD: Fourth Year for an Umbrian Feast
“I could not even have imagined that we would be here four years later!”….Another fabulous Italian feast!
This was so special – thank you for your friendship and for your love of history and food. We will see you again in Italy soon!”
Paulette, thanks for your unwavering enthusiasm for these U.S. Umbrian cooking classes – and I could not have imagined yet a fourth year cooking with you, either!
…and to think it all started with Italian Notebook (where you’d read my notes on life in Italy)…
A whole new set of recipes for you – and once again, colors as well as flavors highlighted our feast (after all, heart of the Mediterranean diet). Dishes from Naples, Siclily, the Marche – and Umbria, of course – starred this year:
“A wonderful experience! Your introduction made us want to go to Italy tomorrow!” Jim and Diane
Bobbie, glad to have you once again in a class at Paulette and Jim’s and thanks for your note: “Saluti to Annie and grazie! We have enjoyed Anne as a guide to Assisi and Perugia – awesome! We have hosted and event and participated in two others in the DC Metro area with friends. She rocks!”
Bobbie, thanks for such a good job on the Sicilian caponata!
Thanks, Jo and Diane M, for teaming on the zucchine antipasto from Ristorante da Marino, Naples:
…and thanks for your comments, too:
“..what a fabulous time with you again, our fourth year…” Diane
“Anne, I feel like an Italian when I participate with you in our cooking adventures. I love Italy and I want to visit you in Umbria. Viva Umbria!” Jo
John, Amy and Kate, and Diane, you all contributed to our panzanella (a Peppa favorite!) – and also to our fresh fruit dessert, macedonia. And thanks so much for your comment, Diane: “A wonderful experience! Your introduction made us want to go to Italy tomorrow!”
Chris, thanks for helping serve up the radicchio/cream/slivered almond pasta dish with Paulette. And now you know how to made that tasty veal dish of the Marches region. (Come visit and we’ll go there for lunch!)
…and thanks, Kristi (with Chris) for your thoughts:
“Chris and I enjoyed the whote day. Chris especially enjoyed cooking/learning new recipes. Fun day!” Kristi and Chris
Donna, thanks for pitching in as needed! and hope to see you in Umbria and in the US next year to cook. Thanks for your invitation: “Anne, as someone who discovered Umbria in 2000, I envy your ‘poor’ life there. This was a wonderful day and I definitely wish to host you for your 2016 US trip. And we will see you in Assisi – next year for Easter!”
Agatha, glad we connected again and may we link up again soon, here or there.
Thanks for your note: “As always, it has been such a pleasure to have you. Every year, you come up with a great menu tha is always a blast to help cook. Thank you so much for coming for the fourth year-in-a-row. We look forward to having you back for a 5th!” Agatha and Patrick
..and mille grazie to all for sharing in the good times!
Thanks, too, to Lee Thomas for his photos.
