No better way to launch my third annual “Annesitaly Inside Umbria Celebration” tour than with a buonissimo meal with an Umbrian family.
Rural friends, Olga and Americo, welcomed us all into their home not far from Assisi.
And Americo added a musical touch to the meal, playing the May songs typical of Umbria which would highlight the astounding 4-day Calendimaggio medieval festival, a highlight of this 10-day early May tour.
Before pulling out his accordion, Americo took all down to his workshop to show us his wood carvings, work in inlay and paintings on both canvas and ceramics.
…and then time to help wife Olga serve up the tasty pasta:
..and after the pasta, Olga’s savory wild boar stew (Americo and friends had hunted the boar):
After a starter of a variety of antipasti, the pasta and the wild boar, the meal is not yet over: still to come, stuffed roast of veal and grilled vegetables:
…and then Olga’s dessert! Mille grazie, Americo and Olga, for opening home and hearts to us.

Yum! Only cooked bore once – 2 days in marination, and the result was worth the work. Gosh, would have loved to be at this dinner. The rest of the world just doesn’t know the gorgeosity of wild boar (I got mine from San Gimignano)
Amazing, what an experience!
